My expertise / skills : ACDI and out partners Conservation South Africa is looking to partner with project teams interested in working in South Africa. We have a range of expertise between ACDI and our member institutes, including climate risk modelling, remote sensing, CC adaptation and EbA, invasive species, hydrology, ecological infrastructure, social-ecological systems, rural livelihoods, vulnerability and biodiversity. We are particularly interested in Theme 1: Consequences of CC for biodiversity and nature's contributions to people; and Theme 3: Potential of nature-based solutions for mitigating and adapting to climate change and see these 2 themes as very linked. We have sketched out some initial ideas and would be happy to talk about those to any interested groups.
I am working on :
Anthropology and ethnology
Forestry and forest sciences
Landscape ecology
Keywords : south africa, nature based solutions; ecosystem based adaptation, ecological infrastructure, carbon, landscapes, trees, bush encroachment, invasive species, livelihoods, restoration
Project description : As indicated above we are particular interested in joining a projects focusing on NbS and linking mitigation and adaptation. Given the SA context we are interested in two broad areas - trees in landscapes (good, bad, when, why, what....) and/or limits to EbA. Comparative work would be exciting.
Networking opportunities : SER Cape Town, September 2019
