My expertise / skills : I graduated in Oceanography in Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), follow by a Master's degree in Biological Oceanography in South Brazil (FURG)and complete my doctoral Thesis in Freshwater Biology and Inland Fisheries by the National Institute for Amazonian Research (INPA) in 1998. Currently, I am Titular Professor at the Federal University of Alagoas (UFAL) and collaborator of the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM).

My experience is large in teaching, research, social development on environment conservation and fisheries management. I am part of a team developing an LTSER project on the largest marine protected area in the Northeastern Brazilian marine coastal region ( Moreover, I am researching on governance and LEK on shrimp and demersal/pelagic fisheries at North-eastern Brazil. I also is vice-coordinator of the MSc/Dr course on Biological Diversity and Conservation ( as well as of the thematic labs on "Conservation and Management of Renewable Resources Lab"/LACOM.

Project description : My main interest currently concerns decision-making on conservation and fisheries management effectiveness using social psychology and social network analysis in a cross-cultural context.

I am going on data collection in the LTESER project and the fisheries project related to these fields. I am interested in collaborate to socio-ecological projects that are assessing governance drivers and effectiveness comparing Brazilian and European cases.
