Polissia National University (Ukraine) offers expertise in Earth Observation (EO), GIS, UAV-based environmental monitoring, spatial modelling and multi-source environmental data integration. Our Educational and Research Center for Space and Geoinformation Technologies operates the Polissia TERRASCOPE research infrastructure for satellite data acquisition, processing, geospatial analysis and environmental monitoring. We work with Sentinel-1/2, Copernicus and climate data, GIS-based spatial analysis, UAV multispectral surveys (DJI Mavic 3M), field observations and AI/ML-supported mapping. These capabilities can be integrated with IoT and in-situ monitoring for multi-scale assessment of water bodies, catchments, land-use pressures and soil–water–vegetation interactions. PNU also provides laboratory capacities for water, soil and vegetation analysis and has experience in field validation and cooperation with territorial communities, farmers, SMEs and public authorities. We can provide a Ukrainian Living Lab for testing and validating integrated water-monitoring and decision-support solutions under real-world conditions.
Topic 1. Integrated Monitoring and Assessment for Sustainable Water Management
Topic 2. Nature-Based Approaches for Resilient Water Management at Hydrological and Hydrogeological System Scale
Polissia National University is interested in joining a consortium developing integrated, multi-scale approaches for sustainable water monitoring and management. We are particularly interested in projects combining Earth Observation, in-situ observations, UAV monitoring, environmental data integration, GIS and AI/ML. We can contribute an Eastern European demonstration and validation site in the Polissia region of Ukraine, where a multi-source monitoring approach can be tested across the Space–Air–Ground observation chain: satellite EO (Sentinel-1/2, Copernicus) → UAV multispectral surveys → field/in-situ and laboratory observations → GIS/data fusion → decision-support tools. We are particularly interested in contributing to or co-leading activities on EO-based water and catchment monitoring, land-use and agricultural pressures on water resources, multi-source spatial data integration, environmental risk mapping, field validation and demonstration. PNU can also support the establishment of a Ukrainian Water-Oriented Living Lab involving researchers, territorial communities, farmers, public authorities and other end users to test solutions under real-world conditions and assess their transferability to other European regions. We are looking for a consortium with complementary expertise in hydrology/hydrogeology, water quality and environmental chemistry, water sensors, hydrological modelling and/or digital water systems.
