a project to join
I am an PhD degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and a faculty member (Assoc. Prof.) at Informatics Department of Akdeniz University, Türkiye. My research expertise includes wireless sensor networks (WSNs), IoT-based environmental monitoring, embedded systems, sensor integration, real-time data acquisition, and intelligent data processing.
I have previously led research on the development of a portable, real-time wireless sensor network for spatial monitoring of seawater quality parameters. The developed system integrates multiple water-quality sensors, including temperature, pH, electrical conductivity, and turbidity, with wireless communication, georeferenced measurements, database infrastructure, and web/mobile-based remote monitoring. My experience covers the complete monitoring chain from sensor integration and embedded hardware to wireless data transmission, data storage, visualization, and analysis.
A recent publication directly related to this expertise is:
Duran, H., Yucel, F., & Civelekoglu, G. (2025). “A New WSN-Based Portable Real-Time Seawater Quality Monitoring System.” Acta Oceanologica Sinica, 44(11), 200–216.
Main expertise keywords: Wireless Sensor Networks, IoT-based Water Monitoring, Environmental Sensors, Real-Time Data Acquisition.
Topic 1. Integrated Monitoring and Assessment for Sustainable Water Management
I am interested in joining or developing a Water4All consortium focusing on smart, distributed, and real-time monitoring of water quality. The proposed research direction builds upon our previous experience in wireless sensor network-based seawater monitoring and aims to develop a scalable multi-sensor platform for continuous monitoring, early detection of water-quality changes, and data-driven environmental assessment.
The concept may integrate low-cost and energy-efficient sensor nodes, IoT/WSN communication, georeferenced measurements, cloud-based data management, and AI-assisted analysis to identify abnormal changes and spatial-temporal patterns in water quality. Depending on the consortium objectives, the monitoring approach could be adapted to coastal waters, surface waters, or other aquatic environments.
We can contribute expertise in sensor and embedded-system integration, wireless sensor networks, IoT communication, real-time data acquisition, remote monitoring platforms, and intelligent processing of environmental sensor data.

I am open to networking opportunities within the Water4All community and related European research networks. I am particularly interested in meetings, brokerage events, workshops, and conferences focusing on water quality, environmental monitoring, smart water technologies, IoT-based sensing, and digitalisation of water management. I would also be pleased to arrange online meetings with potential Water4All partners interested in developing joint project proposals.
