I'm writing on behalf of the the Alpstream Research Group. Our group has long been studying the ecology, biodiversity, and functioning of river ecosystems, with particular emphasis on the effects of human activities and climate change.
Our team includes specialists in biomonitoring, with expertise in macroinvertebrates and diatoms, river biodiversity, and the sustainable management of aquatic ecosystems. Our research centre also features a mesocosm facility consisting of experimental streams, which enables us to conduct manipulative experiments under controlled conditions.
Alpstream has extensive experience in both fundamental and applied research. We also provide scientific consultancy services to private companies, particularly in the hydropower sector, and to public institutions, including regional and provincial authorities and the Po River Basin District Authority.

Topic 1. Integrated Monitoring and Assessment for Sustainable Water Management
We are seeking to participate in a project focused on safeguarding river biodiversity and ecological functioning, particularly in relation to the challenges posed by climate change. We are especially interested in the effects of reduced river discharge and the temporary or complete loss of surface water. These phenomena have major consequences not only for freshwater ecosystems but also for human health, as lower flows reduce the dilution of wastewater discharges and may increase pollutant concentrations.
