Emerging pollutants and ecotoxicity: identification and analysis of new pollutants in the environment, including those derived from modern industrial processes, pharmaceuticals and technology. Research is carried out into their origin, mechanisms of dispersion and accumulation, and the harmful effects they may have on ecosystems and human health. Biogeochemical cycles and environmental health: biogeochemical cycles of key elements such as carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus, and their interaction with ecosystems and human health. The aim is to understand how disruptions to these cycles – whether caused by human activities or climate change – affect the natural balance and biodiversity.
Topic 2. Nature-Based Approaches for Resilient Water Management at Hydrological and Hydrogeological System Scale
Constructed wetlands used for final wastewater polishing: the project develops models converting raw electrical signals into estimates of nitrate-removal performance. It includes temperature correction, long-term drift, reference chemistry, uncertainty analysis and reliability thresholds.
