I am a Professor and researcher at the Desert Research Center (DRC), Egypt, with more than 20 years of experience in sustainable water management, irrigation and drainage, water reuse, wastewater treatment, nature-based solutions (NBS), and climate-smart agriculture. My work combines applied research, field experimentation, pilot-scale demonstration, technology development, monitoring and assessment, and stakeholder engagement.
My expertise includes water-saving irrigation technologies, smart irrigation and water-level control, soil and water management, constructed wetlands, wastewater treatment and safe reuse, water-quality monitoring, nutrient management, and climate-resilient agricultural water management. I have developed and tested innovative solutions including the AquaLevel Smart Cutback Valve (ASCV) and the Soil and Water Management for Rice (SWMR) technique.
I have participated in international collaborative research, including the EU-funded NICE H2020 project on innovative nature-based solutions for sustainable urban water management, with pilot implementation in Egypt. I can contribute pilot and field sites, experimental data, technology validation, monitoring, stakeholder engagement, capacity building and knowledge transfer, particularly under arid and Mediterranean conditions. I am interested in multidisciplinary Water4All projects addressing water scarcity, sustainable water use, NBS, water reuse, smart irrigation and climate adaptation.
