a partner (for my project)
My research expertise focuses on advanced functional nanomaterials for water and wastewater treatment, with particular emphasis on the removal and degradation of emerging contaminants, persistent organic pollutants (POPs), and microplastics. My work includes the synthesis, characterization, and environmental applications of TiO₂-based photocatalysts, layered double hydroxides (LDHs), nanoadsorbents, and hybrid/composite materials.

I have expertise in photocatalytic degradation, adsorption processes, microplastic removal, removal of persistent and recalcitrant organic contaminants, surface modification, and advanced material characterization, as well as in the development of reusable and immobilized functional materials for sustainable water and wastewater treatment.

I am particularly interested in international collaborations focusing on emerging contaminants, persistent and recalcitrant organic pollutants, microplastic remediation, advanced wastewater treatment, water reuse, sustainable nanomaterials, photocatalytic technologies, and circular water systems.
Topic 1. Integrated Monitoring and Assessment for Sustainable Water Management
Topic 4. Resilient Water Systems Through Systemic Change, Policy Coherence and Inclusive Governance
Our project focuses on developing innovative and sustainable materials and technologies for advanced water and wastewater treatment, targeting emerging contaminants, persistent and recalcitrant organic pollutants, and microplastics. A key component is the design and fabrication of advanced functional materials using 3D-printing technologies to create reusable and high-performance structures for water-treatment applications. Our approach integrates 3D-printed functional materials, photocatalysis, adsorption, advanced oxidation processes, and nanomaterial-based technologies for efficient pollutant removal and sustainable water reuse.

We are seeking partners with expertise in integrated water-quality monitoring, contaminant and microplastic detection, environmental and human-health risk assessment, data analysis and modelling, LCA, water governance and policy, socio-economic assessment, and stakeholder engagement. We welcome universities, research institutes, water utilities, municipalities, public authorities, NGOs, technology providers, and SMEs.
