a project to join
Our team at the University of Valladolid (Applied Ecohydraulics Group – GEA) works on applied ecohydrology, soil-water and environmental monitoring, field instrumentation and environmental data analysis.

We design and deploy low-power sensor networks and datalogging systems using IoT/LoRa/4G communications. Our field experience includes soil moisture, water level, meteorological variables, irrigation and hydrological monitoring.

We also work on GIS/remote sensing integration, time-series analysis, data quality control, modelling, AI/data-driven approaches and decision-support systems.

A key strength is the design, deployment and long-term operation of monitoring systems under real field conditions. Our main experience is in agricultural and freshwater systems. For forest ecology, forest soils or sustainable forest management, we can explore collaboration with complementary UVa teams.
Topic 2. Nature-Based Approaches for Resilient Water Management at Hydrological and Hydrogeological System Scale
Topic 3. Smart, Secure and Adaptive Water Infrastructures for Sustainable Water Management
We are interested in joining a Water4All 2026 consortium under Topic 2 and/or Topic 3.

We can contribute to integrated soil-water and environmental monitoring; low-power sensor networks and IoT/datalogging; soil moisture, water-level and meteorological monitoring; hydrological response to drought and extreme rainfall; field validation; environmental data integration and quality control; GIS/remote sensing; time-series analysis, modelling and data-driven decision support; and precision irrigation or adaptive water-management approaches.

We are particularly interested in projects developing common or interoperable monitoring frameworks across contrasting European environments.

Our current field experience is mainly in agricultural and freshwater systems in Spain. Depending on consortium needs, we could explore a Spanish field case, but we do not currently offer a ready-made forest demonstration site.

We seek a clearly defined role in ecohydrological monitoring, instrumentation, data integration, field validation or adaptive water management.
