We are the Soil Science Working Group at the Institute of Geoecology, Technische Universität Braunschweig, Germany. Our expertise covers soil physics, soil hydrology, salinity processes, and soil–water interactions under variable water quality conditions. We work on water quality management in irrigated systems, including salinity risk assessment, modelling of water and solute transport in the vadose zone, and electromagnetic sensing of soil moisture and salinity. We also study the water–energy nexus in water delivery systems and the environmental impacts of water management practices on soil resilience. We can contribute to Water4All projects through expertise in soil–water process modelling, salinity monitoring, water quality assessment, and digital sensing technologies for soil–water systems.
Topic 1. Integrated Monitoring and Assessment for Sustainable Water Management
Topic 2. Nature-Based Approaches for Resilient Water Management at Hydrological and Hydrogeological System Scale
Topic 3. Smart, Secure and Adaptive Water Infrastructures for Sustainable Water Management
We are interested in joining projects within the Water4All Sustainable Water Management call that align with our expertise in salinity processes, soil–water interactions, and vadose zone solute transport modelling. We are particularly keen to contribute to consortia addressing integrated monitoring and assessment, or smart and adaptive water infrastructure, where our salinity monitoring, digital sensing, and water quality assessment capabilities can strengthen the technical and scientific components of the project. Joining allows us to extend our current work into a transnational context and contribute soil–water process expertise to broader water resilience and management solutions.
