ICEB specializes in biodiversity monitoring, ecological data analysis, and the evaluation of ecosystem services at local and regional scales. The Centre combines expertise from ecology, geoinformatics, environmental engineering, sustainable structural engineerings and social sciences, enabling holistic assessments that integrate ecological, socio-economic, and cultural dimensions. ICEB maintains strong technical capacity for field research, remote sensing, spatial modelling, and the development of decision-support tools. The Centre’s researchers’ experiences with project related work ranges from several national and EU-level projects related to biodiversity assessment, ecosystem service mapping, nature-based solutions, and regional environmental planning. These experiences demonstrate strong capability to implement the foreseen activities in the project, especially in data collection, stakeholder engagement, pilot testing, and developing transferable methodologies for other territories. ICEB is interested in joining projects addressing integrated water monitoring, aquatic biodiversity, ecosystem health and sustainable water management. Our interdisciplinary team combines expertise in biodiversity monitoring, (e)DNA and molecular biodiversity assessment, field sampling, bioinformatics, ecological and species distribution modelling, GIS, remote sensing and spatial data analysis. We are particularly interested in projects that integrate innovative biodiversity monitoring approaches with spatial and environmental data to improve the assessment of aquatic ecosystems and support evidence-based management. ICEB can contribute to methodology development and validation, biodiversity data collection and analysis, pilot testing, stakeholder engagement and the development of transferable monitoring approaches and decision-support tools. Our experience in biodiversity assessment, ecosystem services, nature conservation and participatory environmental monitoring provides a strong basis for contributing to interdisciplinary Water4All projects.
