I am an Associate Professor of Civil Engineering at Erzincan Binali Yıldırım University, Türkiye, specialising in hydrology, water resources engineering, hydroclimatology, climate change, flood and drought risk assessment, and hydroclimatic extremes.
My research expertise includes hydrological forecasting, flood frequency analysis, regional frequency analysis, extreme-value statistics (GEV, GPD and POT), probabilistic modelling, multivariate risk analysis, copulas, uncertainty quantification and climate change impact assessment.
I develop and apply artificial intelligence and machine learning methods, including LSTM, GRU, Transformers, CNN, Random Forest, XGBoost, CatBoost, ensemble learning and explainable AI, for hydrological prediction and environmental risk assessment.
My additional expertise covers remote sensing, GIS, Earth observation, groundwater and surface water analysis, hydroclimatic data integration, climate projections, compound flood and drought risks, multi-hazard assessment, early-warning systems and data-driven decision-support tools.
Topic 1. Integrated Monitoring and Assessment for Sustainable Water Management
Topic 2. Nature-Based Approaches for Resilient Water Management at Hydrological and Hydrogeological System Scale
Topic 3. Smart, Secure and Adaptive Water Infrastructures for Sustainable Water Management
Topic 4. Resilient Water Systems Through Systemic Change, Policy Coherence and Inclusive Governance
I am interested in joining an existing international research consortium focusing on sustainable and climate-resilient water systems, integrated water resources management, advanced hydrological monitoring, artificial intelligence and adaptive water infrastructure. My research team and I can contribute expertise in flood and drought forecasting, hydrological frequency analysis, hydroclimatic extremes, climate change impacts, remote sensing, groundwater–surface water interactions, probabilistic risk assessment and compound hydroclimatic hazards. We are particularly interested in projects integrating Earth observation, GIS, machine learning, deep learning, climate projections and hydrological modelling to improve water availability assessment, system resilience, predictive accuracy and evidence-based decision-making. Potential contributions include advanced forecasting models, uncertainty analysis, hydrological risk mapping, early-warning methodologies, digital twins, integrated monitoring systems, model validation and climate adaptation assessments. We are open to contributing to different work packages, providing hydrological case studies from Türkiye where feasible, conducting comparative analyses and collaborating with international partners on scientific publications and applied research outputs. We are flexible regarding the research direction and would welcome the opportunity to support and strengthen an existing consortium through complementary scientific expertise.
My research team and I are interested in joining established international research consortia and contributing to ongoing project development, interdisciplinary research activities, joint scientific publications and collaborative work packages. We welcome cooperation with universities, research institutes, water authorities, environmental organisations, engineering companies and technology developers.
