a partner (for my project)
The Institute of Technology and Engineering (ITE) at Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZJ) develops custom scientific instruments and experimental systems where commercial solutions do not meet research needs. We combine mechanical engineering, electronics, mechatronics, sensor integration, automation and manufacturing, from feasibility studies to working prototypes.
For water research, we offer engineering contributions to monitoring instruments, automated sampling and experimental test rigs, including integration of sensors, control systems and data acquisition.
Our references include AgraSim, developed with IBG-3 of the FZJ to investigate soil–plant–atmosphere interactions and water use efficiency, and engineering contributions to an algal reactor for wastewater-treatment research.

Topic 1. Integrated Monitoring and Assessment for Sustainable Water Management
Topic 3. Smart, Secure and Adaptive Water Infrastructures for Sustainable Water Management
ITE seeks to join an existing or developing Water4All 2026 consortium as a research and technology-development partner, primarily under Topic 1 and, where relevant, Topic 3.

We are particularly interested in projects that need new measurement capabilities, automated sampling or reliable instrumentation to answer a defined water-management research question. Possible contributions include custom monitoring devices, integrated sensor and sampling systems, and instrumented laboratory or field demonstrators. Mobile or robotic measurement platforms can be explored where they provide a clear scientific benefit.

We seek complementary partners with expertise in hydrology, water quality, soil–water–plant processes or water infrastructure, together with access to relevant study sites or operational environments. We can contribute a defined work package covering requirements, design, prototype construction, automation and technical validation, in close collaboration with the scientific and application partners.
