Alfa Kimya specializes in the synthesis and development of sustainable polymeric binder systems and functional resins for coating applications. Our expertise includes bio-based alkyd resins, water-dilutable and high-solid low-VOC systems, functional polymer modification, and the development of durable, environmentally responsible coating technologies. We are interested in applying our materials science and formulation capabilities to water-related challenges, particularly protective and functional coatings, reduced environmental impact, and sustainable material solutions for water infrastructure and aquatic environments.

Topic 3. Smart, Secure and Adaptive Water Infrastructures for Sustainable Water Management

We aim to establish an industry–academia consortium to investigate wastewater generated during alkyd resin production and coating manufacturing, focusing on wastewater characterisation and innovative solutions to reduce organic pollution.

Alfa Kimya will contribute expertise in alkyd resin synthesis, polymer chemistry and coating technologies, alongside relevant process knowledge and wastewater samples, subject to appropriate arrangements.

We are particularly interested in collaborating with two research partners: one specialising in wastewater analysis, including COD, BOD, TOC and other relevant water quality parameters, and another focusing on innovative materials and treatment technologies, such as functional adsorbents, polymeric materials, membranes or hybrid systems, to reduce COD levels. Laboratory testing and potential pilot-scale validation are envisaged.

We also welcome expressions of interest from other research organisations, technology developers and industrial partners with complementary expertise and innovative ideas that could strengthen the project and contribute to sustainable water management.
