a project to join
Sustainable Environmental Solutions (SES) Pvt. Ltd. is a Pakistan-based environmental engineering and consultancy company and NUST spin-off. Our expertise includes water and wastewater treatment, faecal sludge management, decentralized sanitation, environmental monitoring and field assessment.

For Water4All, SES proposes to contribute sanitation and pollution-source mapping, faecal sludge characterization, groundwater and surface-water sampling, spatial contamination-risk assessment, treatment design and field performance validation. Our proposed research combines integrated monitoring with nature-based FSM treatment, including planted sludge drying beds and constructed wetlands for liquid-fraction treatment.

SES can contribute engineering and field implementation expertise to a Pakistan demonstration case, with site access and specialist collaborations to be agreed with consortium partners.

Core skills: faecal sludge management, water-quality monitoring, decentralized treatment, environmental assessment.
Topic 1. Integrated Monitoring and Assessment for Sustainable Water Management
Topic 2. Nature-Based Approaches for Resilient Water Management at Hydrological and Hydrogeological System Scale
SAFE-FSM: Integrated Monitoring and Nature-Based Faecal Sludge Management for Water Resource Protection.

SES seeks to join a consortium investigating how onsite sanitation and faecal sludge management affect groundwater and surface-water systems. We propose to connect sanitation inventories, sludge characterization, seasonal water-quality monitoring and spatial risk assessment to identify pollution pathways and priority intervention areas.

The research would demonstrate selected nature-based or hybrid FSM treatment systems, including planted drying beds and constructed wetlands for liquid fractions. Performance would be assessed through treatment quality, pollutant-load reduction, energy, land requirements, operating costs and contribution to catchment and aquifer protection.

SES proposes to contribute baseline assessment, process design, field implementation and performance validation in Pakistan. We seek complementary expertise in hydrogeology, catchment modelling, environmental microbiology, geospatial analysis and nature-based treatment.
