I am an Environmental Toxicologist and Researcher with expertise in water quality assessment, environmental pollution monitoring, human biomonitoring, and public health risk assessment. My research experience includes the occurrence, fate, and health implications of emerging contaminants such as microplastics, heavy metals, pharmaceuticals, and antimicrobial resistance determinants in aquatic environments. I have strong skills in environmental sampling, analytical chemistry, ICP-MS applications, exposure assessment, GC-MS, analytical method development, environmental analysis, and stakeholder engagement. I am particularly interested in developing integrated water quality monitoring frameworks that support evidence-based water resource management and climate resilience.
Topic 1. Integrated Monitoring and Assessment for Sustainable Water Management
I am seeking partners to develop a multidisciplinary proposal under Water4All 2026 Theme 1: Water and Health, focusing on the impact of leachate from legacy and unmanaged dumpsites on surface water, groundwater, ecosystems, and human health. The project will investigate the occurrence, transport, and fate of contaminants released from historical waste disposal sites, including toxic metals, emerging contaminants, microplastics, pharmaceutical residues, and antimicrobial resistance determinants.

The research aims to assess how landfill and dumpsite leachates contaminate drinking water sources, irrigation water, and aquatic ecosystems, and to evaluate associated human exposure pathways and health risks, particularly among vulnerable communities located near contaminated sites. The project will combine advanced environmental monitoring, hydrogeological modelling, risk assessment, biomonitoring, and early-warning approaches to generate evidence for improved water safety and public health protection.

We are seeking partners with expertise in hydrogeology, water quality monitoring, environmental chemistry, microbiology, public health, epidemiology, geospatial analysis, data science, environmental engineering, and policy development. The consortium will work towards developing sustainable management strategies, remediation solutions, and policy recommendations that strengthen water security, climate resilience, and health outcomes in both European and African contexts.
