a project to join
I am interested in joining consortia developing or applying new water quality monitoring technologies, integrated water quality assessment approaches, or nature-based solutions. I can contribute expertise in the design and evaluation of selective materials/sensors, analysis of chemical interferences and matrix effects, and laboratory validation and interpretation of monitoring data.
Topic 1. Integrated Monitoring and Assessment for Sustainable Water Management
Topic 2. Nature-Based Approaches for Resilient Water Management at Hydrological and Hydrogeological System Scale
My research background is in aquatic and interfacial chemistry. I study how nutrients and other oxyanions, such as phosphate, interact with mineral and engineered materials in water. I also use advanced analytical methods, such as ion chromatography coupled with ICP-MS, to identify and measure different chemical species in water.
This expertise is directly relevant to water quality sensing and monitoring. Sensors need to measure the target substance accurately in real water, where many other ions, natural organic matter, and contaminants may interfere with the measurement. My research can help identify these interferences, understand why they occur, and design materials that respond more selectively to the target substance. I can also use laboratory-based chemical and speciation analysis to validate sensor measurements and determine whether automated or in-situ monitoring systems accurately represent actual water quality.
