a partner (for my project)
1. Field-scale natural barriers: access to a riverbank filtration, managed aquifer recharge (MAR/soil-aquifer treatment) or constructed wetland site, with hydrogeological expertise (flow paths, travel times, sampling design). 2. Data integration and decision support: GIS, machine learning / statistical modelling of water quality dynamics, and co-design of decision-support tools with water managers. A link to a water utility or river basin authority in your country (as stakeholder) is a strong plus. Partner role: lead the work package on dynamics, prioritization, and decision support; co-lead field studies on natural barriers; host one case study. Eligibility: your national funding organisation must fund Topic 1 (e.g. Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, France, Denmark, Belgium, Poland, Czech Republic, Ireland, Slovakia, Hungary).
Topic 1. Integrated Monitoring and Assessment for Sustainable Water Management
Our project will develop green, low-cost extraction and passive sampling tools, and combine HRMS discovery (suspect and non-target screening) with targeted LC-MS/MS methods that water utilities can run routinely. We will measure how natural and engineered barriers (nature-based solutions, photocatalytic treatment) remove or transform these chemicals in case studies from source to tap. The results will feed GIS/machine learning models and a decision-support tool, co-designed with water utilities and authorities, for prioritisation, monitoring design and choice of mitigation measures. Main topic: Topic 1 (links to Topics 2 and 3).
