Topic 1. Integrated Monitoring and Assessment for Sustainable Water Management
Topic 2. Nature-Based Approaches for Resilient Water Management at Hydrological and Hydrogeological System Scale
The goal of the project is to devise advanced analytical and toxicological risk assessment strategies for narrowing the conceptual, profound gaps related to the environmental occurrence of PMOCs and their TPs, with the ambition to make PMOC-free water resources an on-the-ground reality. The pathfinding project will interlink mass spectrometry, the technology of novel materials, and current toxicological risk assessment approaches to protect the environment and human life-course exposure from this resilient group of chemicals. In essence, advanced MS tools will be combined with ‘tailor-made’ materials. High selectivity and long-term performance stability, along with advanced computational and statistical approaches, will be provided by such a combination for the insightful investigation of multifarious PMOCs in DW. The final toolbox will be used to mitigate the effects of PMOCs and their TPs on the environment and human health, to promote their prioritization in the global chemical market for prevention, and to inspire communities to design proactive policies.
