I work for Multisensor Systems which is a UK developer and manufacturer of continuous online water and gas monitoring systems for the early detection of organic contamination. We specialise in low-level monitoring of oil-in-water, dissolved hydrocarbons, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), BTEX, PAHs and related water-quality risks in raw water, groundwater, reservoirs, drinking-water treatment, distribution networks, industrial effluent and wastewater applications originally developed by Professor Krishna Persaud.
Our expertise includes reagent-free headspace/gas-phase measurement, electronic-nose sensing, automated sampling and sample presentation, signal processing, alarm management, and integration with PLC/SCADA and remote monitoring platforms. By measuring the headspace rather than placing an optical sensor directly in the water, our systems can reduce sensitivity to turbidity, suspended solids, fouling and degradation associated with direct liquid-contact methods.
We can contribute commercially deployable monitoring hardware, technical know-how, pilot-scale or field-validation capability, data streams for event detection, and experience translating sensor outputs into practical early-warning and operational decision support. We are particularly interested in projects addressing resilient source-water protection, pollution-event detection, smart water infrastructure, digital monitoring networks and improved management of industrial and urban water risks.
Topic 1. Integrated Monitoring and Assessment for Sustainable Water Management
Topic 3. Smart, Secure and Adaptive Water Infrastructures for Sustainable Water Management
I'm looking to join a Water4All consortium under Topic 1 and/or Topic 3, where continuous water-quality monitoring, pollution-event detection, intelligent infrastructure or operational decision support are central components. We are especially interested in collaborative projects involving source-water protection; river-basin, reservoir or groundwater monitoring; drinking-water resilience; industrial and municipal wastewater; stormwater; and the prevention or management of accidental chemical releases.
We can contribute online monitoring systems and expertise for real-time or near-real-time detection of hydrocarbons, oil-in-water, VOC or trihalomethane (THM) contamination. Potential roles include development and validation of multi-point early-warning networks; integration of online sensor outputs with IoT, SCADA, digital-twin, modelling or AI-based platforms; field demonstration across contrasting water matrices; assessment of monitoring performance and maintenance requirements; and conversion of monitoring data into actionable alerts for utilities, operators and regulators.
We are interested in joining consortia led by research organisations, utilities, catchment managers, technology providers or public authorities that require a practical sensing and monitoring partner. We would welcome partners with expertise in hydrology, hydrogeology, water chemistry, data science, modelling, nature-based solutions, utility operations, governance and stakeholder engagement.
