Our research team develops and validates advanced in situ remediation technologies for contaminated geological environments and groundwater, including sites impacted by chlorinated hydrocarbons and PFAS. Our expertise covers reductive, electrochemically enhanced, and biologically supported remediation approaches based on nano- and microscale zero-valent iron (nZVI/ZVI) and direct electric current. We also perform laboratory testing and laboratory-scale validation of remediation technologies, including controlled experiments simulating porous media to evaluate contaminant behaviour, treatment efficiency, and process optimisation. In parallel, we develop tools for detailed site characterisation, automated groundwater monitoring, online measurement of physicochemical parameters, remote monitoring and control, and real-time subsurface data acquisition. Our systems integrate IoT-based data transmission, automated data processing and visualisation, digital interpretation tools, 2D/3D conceptual site modelling, and AI-supported monitoring and remediation control.
Topic 2. Innovative Tools and Technologies for Water Quality and Exposure Monitoring
Topic 3. Water Treatment and Exposure Mitigation
VirtuWater | Water4All2025-51: This project is a strong match for our expertise in automated monitoring, remote data acquisition, and digital control of remediation processes. Its focus on real-time water quality monitoring, risk management, and digital twins closely aligns with our capabilities in smart monitoring and decision-support systems.

VECTORWAT | Water4All2025-997: This project is highly relevant to our expertise in PFAS remediation and monitoring, as it combines PFAS mitigation with nature-based and digital solutions, including AI-assisted water monitoring. It fits well with our work on PFAS, real-time monitoring, and digitally supported remediation management.

SAFE-RECYCLE | Water4All2025-27: This project aligns with our expertise in the remediation of chlorinated and other halogenated organic contaminants, as it explicitly addresses the mitigation and transformation of halogenated organic chemicals.
