a project to join
Registered pharmacist (B.Pharm, 13+ years clinical experience) and CPSI Innovator of the Year. Founder of Bhevin Lux Collective (Pty) Ltd, a B-BBEE Level 1, 100% Black-owned South African IP holding company (PIC: 865002060). BLC holds 4 provisional patents in ocean technology and water security, applying pharmaceutical systems thinking to water treatment and security challenges. Our Background IP covers modular water treatment platforms designed using cascading defence architecture and controlled-release principles — layered, adaptive systems for contaminant removal including microplastics, pharmaceutical residues, and emerging pollutants. Core expertise spans pharmaceutical science, materials engineering, controlled-release systems design, and water infrastructure resilience. South Africa (DSTI) is listed as an undersubscribed funding partner in this call. BLC can strengthen any consortium requiring a South African partner with genuine water security IP and African coastal/field deployment capability in KwaZulu-Natal, coastal regions.
Topic 2. Innovative Tools and Technologies for Water Quality and Exposure Monitoring
Topic 3. Water Treatment and Exposure Mitigation

BLC is seeking to join a Stage 2 consortium under the Water and Health theme. We are particularly interested in projects addressing innovative water treatment technologies, microplastic detection and removal, and pharmaceutical contaminant management in water systems. Our provisional patents apply pharmaceutical controlled-release and cascading defence principles to water security — offering novel approaches to contaminant removal that complement existing consortium technologies. As a South African entity under an undersubscribed DSTI funding partner, BLC's inclusion strengthens consortium eligibility and scoring. We offer independently filed Background IP in water security, African deployment and pilot testing capability, and cross-disciplinary expertise bridging pharmaceutical science and water engineering. Open to joining any consortium aligned with Topics 2 and 3.
