Low cost, non-invasive IoT device that discovers and reports leaks.
Installed on pulse water meters, measures water flow, and uses cases to detect and send alerts.
Sends data via mobile networks therefore does not need wifi access.
Suitable for pipelines under streets, in large buildings and in homes - wherever there is a water meter (or sub-meter).
What is Shayp: Over 30% of clean water is lost during its distribution causing the loss of a precious resource, and also causing damages of infiltration. Shayp is providing buildings and households with connected devices to monitor water, detect leaks and repair them seamlessly. Shayp is a BCorp company and is part of the selection of 1000 solutions to tackle the climate crisis by the Solar Impulse Foundation.
Key words: NB-IoT and Sigfox, mobile networks, no-wifi required, fully water-proof (IP67) and durable in harsh environments, leak detection, non-invasive, retrofit.
Topic 2. Innovative Tools and Technologies for Water Quality and Exposure Monitoring
Topic 4. Governance, Socio-Economic Innovation, and Policy Integration for Water and Health
Shayp is an established startup looking to bring its innovation capabilities, existing technologies and data to a project.
Based in Belgium, and having already been successfully awarded a multi-year grant for innovation relating to the data capture and analytics of data coming from Shayp's IoT devices, Shayp has an in-house team of hardware and software developers, who can carry out joint research and innovation activities.
Shayp's speciality is in detecting water leaks from its devices installed retroactively on water meters. The planned next stages of advanced research and technological advancements by Shayp are to explore how water network topology understanding can improve disaggregation outcomes. Incorporation of knowledge of structural and operational nuances, to better distinguish routine from anomalous water usage. This approach will enhance precision and improve identification of root causes and locations of unexpected water usage.
Water consumption data is inherently complex due to environmental factors and occupant behaviour, yet Shayp aims to work in partnership with other organisations to bring to market innovations that can significantly advance anomaly detection and water management and set a precedent for other resource management applications, for sustainable infrastructure practices.
