a partner (for my project)
I am a senior researcher from CIIMAR, Portugal and my expertise is in the areas of estuarine ecology and ecotoxicology with particular emphasis in aquatic systems. I have been strongly interested in the study of the combined effects of climate change and emergent contamination on the coastal areas and functioning of coastal species.

The last project that I am coordinating is a Biodiversa+ project whose main focus is to understand the ecological relevance of existent Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) and their importance in the mitigation of emerging contaminants pollution while contributing to local biodiversity and their ecosystem services.

Keywords: Ecotoxicology, Nature Based solutions, emerging contaminants, aquatic systems, valorisation of resources
Topic 2. Urban water circularity
Topic 3. Resource recovery and valorization
CIRCECO-WATER4ALL-247 WATERWiSE - Advances in Wastewater Treatment for Sustainable Nutrient and Energy Recovery within a Circular Economy
Keywords: liquid sidestream digestate; nutrient valorisation; phytoremediation; life cycle assessment; biogas

This proposal aims to develop efficient wastewater treatment systems that integrate chemical, biological, technological, and NBS. It is designed for application in EU and non-EU regions, creating new value chains and economic opportunities across the water, agriculture, chemicals, and energy sectors.

For this proposal we are looking for a partner with expertise in analytical chemistry and capacity to quantify emerging contaminants (i.e. pharmaceuticals, pesticdes, etc) in different environmental matrices (water, plants)
