Kütahya Municipality is a local administration established in 1868. Kütahya Municipality has 2000 employees and the unit that carries out activities on grants, funds and projects is the Directorate of Etude Project. Within the scope of the Directorate of Etude Project, 20 staff specialised in their fields carry out projects for funding sources provided by institutions such as the European Union, IPA, Embassies, and the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye. In 2017, Kütahya was the first city in Türkiye to be selected as the City of Crafts and Folk Arts by the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, and its activities in this field are carried out by our Municipality, ensuring its effective representation in the UNESCO network. Kütahya Municipality is at the forefront of comprehensive project development spanning various domains, including production and employment, renewable energy, infrastructure and superstructure, zero waste, green transformation, zoning and urbanization, urban mobility, water and sewerage, social responsibility, education, youth and sports, as well as culture, arts, and tourism.

There is a Waste Water Treatment Plant within the Municipality. Phase 1 of the treatment plant is designed to serve an average wastewater flow rate of 97,705 qubic meter/day in 2030 and Phase 2 is designed to serve an average wastewater flow rate of 120,868 qubic meter/day in 2045. The facility is staffed 24/7 by 26 specialized personnel. In 2023, the total amount of wastewater treated is 23 million cubic meters. In addition, the works carried out within the scope of the Directorate of Survey and Project and the Directorate of Climate Change and Zero Waste are carried out especially towards becoming a climate-resilient city. We can participate and contribute to projects on wastewater treatment, water cycle management, water reuse, rainwater and runoff collection, etc.

Kütahya is an UNECO Creative City which designed in 2017, in the field of Crafts and Folk Art. For this reason the project team and/or project manager participates several international meeting. Even the Kütahya Municipality organizes both in-person and virtual different international conferences, forums, events, etc.
