We have an expertise in the development, synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials and nanocoating. We developed nanomaterails that can extract all heavy metal ions from aqueous medium. The extracted ions are in solid form (thick coating of micrometers thick) that can be reclaimed in required. We can develop specific coating on any type of surface. The production of the nanomaterials and nanocoating is cost effective.
Topic 1. Enhancement of water circularity in industries
Topic 3. Resource recovery and valorization
Topic 4. Economic, environmental and social implications of water reuse and recovered products
We are looking for partners who would like to implement the technology we develop. The nanocomposites we produce can extract all heavy metal ions from groundwater, lake water, wastewater to be either purified or used as a resource. The extracted ions are in solid form (thick micrometer coating) and can be reclaimed using hydrometallurgy. We use sand or glass as support for the nanocoating, but any type of support is suitable. We can use carbon as support, even carbon nanotubes. The heavy metal ions are extracted by simply passing the water through the sand/glass nanocomposite. We tested the technology on real water sample and industrial wastewater and the extraction of heavy metal ions was successful for all type of water and all heavy metal ions tested. The sand nanocomposite can also be used for mining purpose.
