The long term vision of this project consists of developing state of the art, functional surfaces and interfaces for significant enhancement in atmospheric water collection. The novel concepts proposed here rely on the realization of precisely engineered hierarchical, micro-nanotextured surfaces to enable wetting control and maximize water collection efficiency. “EXERCISE”, Next generation green functional surfaces , Hellenic foundation of research and innovation (HFRI), Greece 2.0, Basic Research Financing Action: Functional polymeric materials are common, however the the excessive use of fossil resources have created the necessity for alternative materials. This Excellence grant from HFRI proposes a new concept for the production of functional bio-polymers using dry and environmental friendly micro-nano texturing techniques to develop antibacterial surfaces and superhydrophobic bio-membranes for separation applications.
