I am an Assistant Professor (Lecturer) in Sensor Systems at Newcastle University, UK, with prior research roles at Oxford, Sheffield, and Southampton Universities. My expertise is in the broad Internet of Things (IoT) field, particularly designing and optimising LoRaWAN-based smart water meter networks deployed in cities.

The (other) areas I contribute include:
- Internet of Things (IoT); LoRaWAN; Wireless Sensor Networks; Sensor Technologies; Edge Computing
- Energy Harvesting; Wireless Power Transfer; Energy Neutrality; Net Zero; Energy Efficiency; Batteryless IoT
- Wireless Communications; Wireless/RF Network Design and Optimisation; Network Efficiency
- Drone Networking; Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs); Swarm Intelligence
- Smart Cities; Smart Buildings; Smart Infrastructures; Smart Grids; Smart Homes; Connected Places
- Wearable Devices/Electronics; Body Area Networks; Smart Healthcare; Molecular Communications
- Embedded Systems; Transient Computing; Intermittent Networking
- Cybersecurity; Privacy; Security by Design
the contributions I have made to these areas via peer-reviewed publications can be found on my Google Scholar profile.
Topic 3. Resource recovery and valorization
Topic 4. Economic, environmental and social implications of water reuse and recovered products
- Smart water meter design: Expertise in designing and developing smart water meters integrated with advanced sensor technologies (e.g., ultrasound) for accurate data collection and real-time monitoring in urban environments.

- Wireless network design and optimisation for efficient water meter data collection in cities: Specialising in deploying and optimising LoRaWAN-based wireless networks for seamless data transmission from distributed water meters, ensuring efficient and scalable coverage across large urban areas, achieving certain performance parameters (e.g., spreading factor, throughput, etc).

- Leak detection in water pipes: Development of innovative leak detection methods using pressure sensors, acoustic sensing techniques, and granular reading, including nightline profiling, to identify and address water leakage issues in city-wide water distribution systems.
