PA2 - Blue economy sectors, development of marine multi-use infrastructures

RBINS would like to join a consortium to study the cumulative impact of offshore infrastructures on currents and waves in the Southern North Sea and assessing how including these impacts in our marine forecasts. Targeted infrastructures include offshore windfarms and other marine renewable energies farms (such as floating solar panels structure), measurement piles, artificial islands as well as aquaculture farms.

Our strategy :
- Developping and validating a very high resolution wave-circulation couple model based on the COHERENS model
- Running the couple model on a wide range of met-ocean conditions in order to build a relevant datasets to train a data-driven emulator (so AI / machine learning)
- Demonstrating the capacity of the emulator to improve the accuracy and fit-for-purpose of our marine forecasts
