Dokuz Eylül University, Institute of Marine Sciences and Technology
I currently work as a research assistant at Institute of Marine Sciences and Technology (IMST), Dokuz Eylül University (DEU). In my PhD studies, I focused on marine biogeochemistry subjects: seasonal cyclings of nutrients, carbohydrates and amino acids at eutrophic and oligotrophic parts of semi-enclosed Izmir Bay. Currently I'm working on molecular characterization of organic matter in the marine environment. I also work on liquid chromatography, microfluidics and analysis of organic molecules with spectroscopic instruments (Absorbance, Fluorescence) for method development in marine chemistry. In my works, I use R, Python and MATLAB programming languages and software for statistical analyses, graphing, modeling and data transfer from analysis instruments.
PA1 - Digital Twins of the Oceans (DTO) at regional sub basin scale
DEU IMST is an academic institution that conduct oceanographic research surveys with its research vessel R/V K. Piri Reis. The main objective of our institute is to investigate and monitor the status of the marine environment under the national and European Commission’s regulations in our region. We have been directing or taking part in consortiums of many national and international research projects for more than 40 years. Our expertise in marine chemistry research cover the areas of monitoring of water quality (nutrients, physicochemical parameters, dissolved organic matter, etc.) and marine pollution including metals and organic pollutants (PAHs, OCPs, Aliphatic Hydrocarbons, etc.) in water, sediment and biota matrices. Also, in our institute, physical oceanography research areas cover regional and global dynamic ocean models, circulation models and biogeochemical models.
We are investigating the oceanographic parameters (physical, chemical, biological and geological) of Izmir Bay for more than 30 years. In our institute, we have experience on the settlement, management, maintenance and data analysis of marine buoy sensor systems for monitoring of oceanographic parameters. We are willing to make an application for a project and we are looking for partners from other countries to become eligible for meeting the criteria of three different countries conducting research at two different sea basins.
