I am an adjunct assistant professor at CENTEC, Instituto Superior Técnico. My main research interests include autonomous ships, marine control systems, ship manoeuvring and ship model tests, focusing on guidance navigation and control (GNC), path following control, hydrodynamic coefficient estimation, mathematical manoeuvring models, machine learning methods, data acquisition (DAQ) and developing AutoShip prototypes.
I have published 30 SCI papers and involved in 7 EU projects, I oversee several ongoing internal research projects, such as the joint project with MIT, the Autonomous Navy Ship Prototype development, and the development of low-cost Multi-AutoTugs.
I oversee the research on autonomous ships, sensors and instruments at CENTEC and the experimental equipment and sensors, which have been used to support many research studies at CENTEC and LNEC in successfully acquiring measurement data.

I am looking for a project to join, giving a contribution to our R&D department in particular marine control system, DAQ, Experimental work and data processing, data-driven mathematical modelling and prototype development, model test, full-scale sea trial and data collection, marine IOT data system.
