Prof. Corsaro's research activity resulted in structural analysis of glycolipids and polysaccharides, in monosaccharides synthesis and glycolipids synthesis, in polysaccharides modification. Prof. Corsaro's skills include i) chromatographic techniques such as gel-filtration, ion-exchange, silica-gel, reverse-phase, HPLC, HPAEC-PAD, and GC; ii) Spectroscopic and spectrometric techniques, such as GC/MS, LC/MS, MALDI-MS, ESI-MS, MS/MS, 1D and 2D NMR, UV-Vis spectrophotometry; iii) structural chemical analysis and modification. Specifically, the main focuses of her research activities are the studies of i) the structure of bacterial lipopolysaccharides (LPS) and extracellular polysaccharides (CPS and EPS), ii) the interactions between LPS and CPS, iii) the role of LPS and CPS within the bacterial environment, using state of art methodologies such as 2D NMR spectroscopy and MS spectrometry.
PA4 - Blue Bioresources
We can participate in a project on the valorization of blue resources. In detail, we are experts in the isolation and characterization of bioactive compounds, both small metabolites and polysaccharides, for the formulation of biomaterials and functional groups.
polysaccharides, biomaterials, hydrogels, small metabolites
