Sustainable Blue Call 2024 on "Unified Paths to Climate-Neutral, Sustainable, and Resilient Blue Economy: Engaging Civil Society, Academia, Policy, and Industry"
Victor Pozzobon is responsible for 4 research associates and 3 research engineers (project funded) and leads initiatives from cell production to secondary metabolites hyperaccumulation, with a strong focus on microalgae and numerics. Regarding microalgal pigment production, he developed an intensified microalgal culture protocol under super high light, which produces cells rich in carotenoids without hindering biomass production. He deployed stress procedures (nitrogen x light) to investigate lipids and carotenoid accumulation in mature cultures. He also studies the effect of flashing in microalgae pigment production (cell content and expression dynamic – in progress -). In terms of tools, he deploys in synergy high-end experimental procedures (flow cytometry, fluorimetry, ...) and numerics (from the design of experiments to machine learning).
