The Marmara Research Center (MAM) is the largest research organization under TUBITAK (Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey). The Center consists of four Vice Presidency including Climate Change and Sustainability (CCSP). The CCSP vice presidency is composed of five research disciplines, one of which is the Marine Research and Technologies Research Group (MRT-RG). MRT-RG currently includes marine scientists, engineers, GIS specialists, R/V crew members, and research technicians (40 in total), involved primarily in coastal and marine research and management projects. Expertise areas of MRT-RG staff are physical, chemical and biological oceanography, sediment geochemistry, sea-land interaction, marine biotechnology, marine policy, GIS, marine technology, hydrographic surveying, online monitoring, coastal planning and engineering applications. Research Group has coordinated more than 15 national and international projects over the past 10 years. The researchers have taken part in a number of national and international scale projects on coastal and marine quality classification, pollution and ecological quality monitoring. In addition, the group focuses on applied research to meet the requirements imposed by environmental policies and to support decision making mechanisms. Moreover, the research group conducts studies in the field of marine technology. It designs and manufactures marine measurement and monitoring systems and makes on-site applications.
PA1 - Planning and managing sea uses at the regional level
PA5 - Digital Twin of the Ocean (DTO) test use cases at EU sea-basins and the Atlantic Ocean
We would like to participate in a project related with planning and managing sea uses at the regional level or DTO test use cases at EU sea-basins. We can provide our expertise in physical, chemical and biological oceanography, sediment geochemistry, sea-land interaction, marine biotechnology, marine policy, GIS, marine technology, hydrographic surveying, online monitoring, coastal planning and engineering applications. Our group also has a research vessel named R/V TUBITAK MARMARA, which is a multirole oceanographic research vessel with an unrestricted operation area. The vessel is outfitted with oceanographic equipments / instrumentation and acoustic survey systems. Singlebeam & Multibeam echo sounders and ADCP system provides site surveys to be used for oceanographic modeling. Research Laboratories included in the vessel provide onboard sampling and analysis capabilities for environmental monitoring studies.
