WOC is the only global cross-sectoral ocean business and investment alliance that brings together leaders from a network of >35,000 ocean private stakeholders to collaborate on ocean sustainable development. These include leadership companies and industry associations from across important sectors in the global maritime economy. WOC organises the annual Sustainable Ocean Summit and organised the inaugural Global Blue Finance Summit in 2022. WOC programs and activities revolve around the full range of ocean industries, including: shipping, ports, renewable energy, oil and gas, mining, fisheries, aquaculture, cruise tourism, submarine cable, as well we the maritime legal, financial and insurance communities. The WOC has been formally accredited by, and is collaborating with, a growing number of business and intergovernmental organizations in recognition of its role as the only global, multi-industry organization dedicated to ocean sustainable development, science and stewardship. The numerous WOC programmes include the OCDR initiative which convenes the business, entrepreneurs and investors involved in ocean CO2 sequestration; Marine Spatial Planning; Smart Oceans - Smart Industries; Ocean Policy and Governance; Operational Environmental Issues.
