This development aims to protect (chalk or sand) coasts that erode by crashing waves by an imitation of rocks. The impulse of breaking waves or surf is used to generate electricity while preserving the natural aspect of a rocky coast. That is, the real rocks are covered or replaced with a kind of pillow that absorbs these impulses.
Kind of difficulties solved ? The definition of labor is force x displacement. Every move evokes a reaction. The problem is that 'water is liquid' and will therefore flow around an object when the resistance to displacement is high. So, only a part of the impulse can be used for labour. This is not a drawback as productive time is 24x365 hours from a large area and the possibility to create light shows in coast areas.
One of my inventive principles is the real circular behaviour of organisms in nature, i.e. 'don't take everything'. Applied to the aim of developing an aesthetic attribute, I have combined different laws of physics, material properties and configurations bearing in mind that the attibuut must be flexible. It's rather far out-of-the box.
The concept has been written out in detail, but whether the system works as expected, is difficult to estimate from my chemical background. This proposal is aimed at a research institution or an university for a thesis an idustrial partner. It is also a challenge in terms of production. The chance of failure is high, but the inventive twist is interesting.
