A key focus of her research is Microbiologically Induced Corrosion (MIC) as well as its prevention. Further research interests lie in the area of the anaerobic bacteria (especially sulfate reducing bacteria), petroleum microbiology, microbial diversity and ecology, microbial genetics and biofilm.

I have experience and infrastructure in the field of biofilm (structure, content, etc.), bacterial isolation (both aerobes and anaerobes), especially obligatory anaerobic bacteria, bacterial identification, microbial community analysis in aquatic systems and also evaluation of microbiologically induced corrosion.
