| My expertise / skills : |
My work focused on landscape connectivity of wildlife species, landscape ecology and developing spatially explicit recommendations in cooperation with stakeholders for maintaining and improving the long-term functionality of ecological networks and policy advice. My PhD thesis examined the connectivity in Romanian brown bear population using landscape genetics modeling approach; elaborating conservation measures prior to infrastructure development. After my PhD was completed, my work focused on connectivity modeling, implementing genetics approaches for exploring species dispersal and determining the landscape parameters involved. I am very active in the academic and research communities, natural resources managers and other conservation organizations.
I serve on the leadership team of the project Ecological corridors for habitats and species in Romania which aims to develop methods for designing a national network of ecological corridors, to identify critical areas, to define long term monitoring of the ecological network and to implement it in national development strategies. |
