I am looking for a project to join
Non-profit reforestation foundation specialised in post-fire restoration of Mediterranean ecosystems with native species. Expertise: site preparation and planting, monitoring tree survival and growth, community and volunteer engagement, partnerships with local authorities and companies. Ongoing: Fuente la Reina (Alto Mijares, Castellón), 8,218 native trees on 8.4 ha in a Natura 2000 area burned in the 2023 Villanueva de Viver wildfire; Pego (6,756 trees); high-Andean queñua woodland restoration in Puno, Peru (13,700 trees). Keywords: post-fire restoration, native reforestation, community engagement, Mediterranean forests.
Forestry and forest sciences
We are looking to join a BiodivFuture consortium as the practice and field partner. We offer Fuente la Reina as a study site: a burned Mediterranean landscape where the previous pine forest will not return by itself and is being steered towards a mixed native forest of Aleppo pine, Portuguese oak, holm oak and strawberry tree. This fits Theme A (how novel ecosystems function and how to increase biodiversity in them), Theme B (how land moves towards novel ecosystems after disturbances such as fire) and Theme C (community benefits and engagement). We can provide site access, planting records, survival monitoring, links with the Town Council and local people, and outreach. We are especially interested in research groups working on fire ecology, restoration ecology, climate adaptation of forests, or participatory social science.

Based in Valencia, happy to host site visits at Fuente la Reina
