Ecofirst is a Belgian cooperative of ecological engineering experts specialised in biodiversity conservation, ecological assessment and habitat management. Our expertise combines field ecology, biodiversity monitoring, ecological data analysis and practical conservation and restoration actions, with experience across a wide range of habitats and taxonomic groups.
We conduct biodiversity inventories and monitoring programmes, using a range of approaches including field surveys, acoustic monitoring and bioacoustics, camera trapping, GPS telemetry and spatial analysis. Our work includes the collection, processing and interpretation of ecological data.
We also have extensive experience in habitat restoration and management, ecological engineering and the development of practical management measures. We work at the interface between scientific research and implementation, translating ecological knowledge and monitoring results into concrete recommendations, management plans and conservation actions.
Our expertise covers a range of taxa and ecological questions (flora, fauna, habitat connectivity, species-habitat relationships, ecosystem functionality and the effects of human activities on biodiversity). We are particularly interested in interdisciplinary projects combining ecological research, field-based approaches, data analysis and practical conservation.
Ecofirst is also skilled with forestry management issues, such as evaluation of the biodiversity potential of a forest.

Ecofirst is looking to join an interdisciplinary BiodivFutur consortium exploring novel ecosystems and their implications for biodiversity. We can bring strong field-based and applied expertise, combining biodiversity monitoring, bioacoustics, ecological data analysis, habitat assessment, forestry assessment, restoration and management.
Our team can contribute to projects requiring field studies and long-term biodiversity monitoring, including acoustic monitoring, camera trapping, GPS telemetry, biodiversity inventories and spatial analyses. We have experience in spatial and environmental analysis, telemetry and acoustic data management, ecological data analysis, database structuring and automated data processing.
Ecofirst also brings extensive experience in ecological and forestry engineering, habitat restoration and management, conservation planning and the implementation of practical measures for biodiversity in all kind of habitat. We are particularly interested in projects where research can be connected to practical ecological management, including the development, testing and evaluation of habitat management and/or restoration approaches.
We would be particularly interested in contributing Belgian/Walloon field sites or case studies, as well as expertise in field data collection, ecological monitoring and the translation of scientific findings into practical conservation and management recommendations.
