Terrapreta Srl is a Benefit Corporation start-up which has been active for three years in the development of nature-based solutions, multi-layer analysis, environmental restoration strategies and landscape design, with a specific focus on soil protection. It has five years’ experience, gained whilst operating as a non-profit organisation, working on the ground to preserve and enhance a natural forest that has grown on 18 hectares of contaminated post-industrial land. Through the development of the Osservatorio La Goccia partnership, coordinated by Terrapreta, and thanks to the European EUI-GOCCIA project and its partners, the company is working alongside the City of Milan to implement an innovative process of remediation and risk mitigation for the future partial use of the natural ecosystem. Terrapreta has focused on the soil right from the start of the projects, concentrating on its vitality, permeability and large-scale connectivity. Through a diverse network and an interdisciplinary, craft-based approach, Terrapreta works on interdisciplinary projects, fostering dialogue between different professional disciplines and integrating scientific research, public policy, environmental education, architecture and artistic practices.

Remote Sensing

We develop nature-based projects in Italy, primarily in Milan (Lombardy, the Po Valley), but also in central and southern Italy. Above all we are developing post-industrial urban regeneration projects, soil and baseline assessments, community-based strategies, biodiversity monitoring and enhancement, remote sensing and landscape restoration design. Through Biodiversa+ we aim to engage with partners from whom we can learn and with whom we can find sinergies between respective competences and ongoing projects. At the base of our approach always is sharing experiences and knowledge, strengthening transnational links to promote sustainable urban and rural development.

We're also open to join projects from abroad, prevantly in the Mediterraen region, but also in Switzerland, Sweden and France, where some of our associate are living.
