I am looking for a project to join
Environmental engineer (Integrated MSc, NOVA School of Science and Technology / Politecnico di Milano) with a postgraduate certificate in Enterprise Data Science and Analytics (NOVA IMS). 12+ years working with data across environmental and industrial engineering and data analytics. Main skills: data modelling, data pipelines and data quality (SQL, Python, dbt, Power BI); data governance and shared KPI definitions; programme coordination and multi-stakeholder engagement; environmental compliance monitoring. Ongoing projects: (1) leading a citizen-science biodiversity monitoring initiative on invasive alien plants in Atlantic Forest protected areas, Rio de Janeiro, with a first field pilot completed in Serra dos Órgãos National Park (Aug 2026); (2) research with Climate Collective on how climate and nature nonprofits are integrating AI into their work. Earlier: designed a conceptual AI wildfire early-warning system for forest assets with a forestry research centre.

I would like to join a BiodivFuture consortium in a data, technology or engineering role, as a team member or a lead.

What I can contribute:
- data management: the data management plan and execution, data models, pipelines and quality checks that make field, sensor and remote-sensing data comparable across countries;
- field data acquisition: design and coordination of different frameworks, such as citizen-science ones;
- environmental engineering: six years monitoring the environmental performance of pulp and paper mills (water, effluents, emissions, waste), turning sensor and lab data into indicators comparable across sites. Useful for quantifying human pressures on an ecosystem.
- stakeholder engagement with Brazilian conservation, invasive-species and protected-area institutions.

A Brazilian case study: I am based in Rio de Janeiro, where Atlantic Forest, a global biodiversity hotspot, survives inside a city of millions. Tijuca National Park is a clear novel ecosystem: a forest replanted in the 1860s on cleared plantation land, now self-sustaining with a mix of native and introduced species. I can help add it, or the nearby mountain parks, as a comparison site, through my contacts with Brazilian conservation and protected-area institutions.

I am open to any novel-ecosystem topic. As an Independent Consultant and Researcher, I can join through a consortium's Brazilian partner or through a host institution in Rio de Janeiro state (FAPERJ takes part in the call).
