I am looking for a project to join
I am a physical oceanographer working at the interface between physical oceanography, biophysical interactions, continental inputs and marine ecosystem dynamics.

My research focuses on how ocean dynamics (currents, fronts, eddies, waves and wind) influence the transport, dispersal and distribution of marine organisms. During my PhD, I investigated the interactions between boundary currents, fronts and eddies and the transport of floating organisms, combining oceanographic observations, Lagrangian modelling and laboratory experiments. I also developed wind–wave flume experiments to investigate how wind forcing and organism morphology affect surface drift.

I am now particularly interested in developing this research towards biology-physics feedbacks in the ocean: not only how physical processes shape biological communities, but also how biological organisms and ecosystem changes modify physical and biogeochemical processes.

I can contribute both experimental and modelling expertise, including:

analysis of oceanographic observations;

experimental work in wind-wave flumes and wave tanks;

3D printing and conceptualization;

coupling of physical processes with biological/ecological dynamics;

modelling of land-sea connectivity and terrestrial nutrient inputs;

modelling approaches linking land use, catchment processes and coastal marine systems.

I am looking to join a BiodivFuture consortium as a funded researcher, with availability from April 2027.

I am particularly interested in projects addressing marine and coastal ecosystem functioning, restoration and resilience, especially where physical ocean processes and biological dynamics need to be considered together.

I would be particularly interested in research on kelp forests and other habitat-forming coastal ecosystems, including questions of restoration success, ecological connectivity, dispersal and cumulative environmental pressures.

I would like to investigate how ocean circulation, waves and other physical processes interact with biological communities, and how changes in ecosystem structure may in turn affect physical and biogeochemical processes.

I can also bring a land–sea connectivity perspective, linking terrestrial land use and nutrient inputs to coastal ecosystem responses. This could provide a bridge between catchment pressures, coastal biogeochemistry, physical transport and marine biodiversity.

I am specifically looking for a funded research position within a consortium, rather than a self-funded collaboration.
