I can offer leadership and networking with local stakeholders through a living lab focused on the abandoned and marginal urban and peri-urban landscapes of the Ostrava–Karviná mining district in Czechia. These areas offer numerous examples of novel ecosystems with potentially high biodiversity value, yet they are often overlooked. The living lab could focus on mapping these areas, assessing their biodiversity and ecosystem functioning, and developing new management measures that could be applied by local municipalities and other stakeholders.
In addition, I can offer my skills and expertise in forest microclimatology monitoring and modelling, remote sensing using various approaches, and land-use scenario analysis.
I would be particularly interested in joining a consortium working on comparable post-industrial or marginal landscapes, novel ecosystems, biodiversity assessment, ecosystem functioning, or innovative approaches to land management.
