I am looking for a project to join
I am a Professor at the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM), Institute of Nature and Culture, in Benjamin Constant, in the Brazil–Peru–Colombia tri-border region. I hold a PhD in Chemistry, with expertise in analytical instrumentation, flow analysis and low-cost photometric methods for water analysis, and an MSc in Agricultural Education focused on intercultural food production. I lead ongoing studies monitoring physicochemical and bacteriological water quality in local streams and the Javari and Solimões rivers. My other work spans Amazonian natural products, biodegradable materials, açaí-seed waste valorisation and community traceability of Brazil nuts.
Agriculture
Bioprocesses and Applied Microbiology
Biotechnology
Biotechnology (excluding environmental, medical, agricultural and food)
Chemical Engineering
Food Biotechnology
Technologies for biomass production
I am interested in joining a BiodivFuture project because I work in the heart of the Amazon, in the Upper Solimões region at the Brazil–Peru–Colombia border. Its exceptional biodiversity, sociobioeconomic potential and the knowledge of Indigenous peoples and traditional communities offer a valuable setting for studying ecological change and its social consequences. I can contribute local research experience and connections with regional institutions to a transnational team.
amazon biodiversity, alto solimões, indigenous knowledge, traditional communities, sociobioeconomy, novel ecosystems
I welcome online meetings with prospective BiodivFuture partners to explore research on Amazonian biodiversity, sociobioeconomy and the perspectives of Indigenous peoples and traditional communities. Based in the Alto Solimões and at the Brazil–Peru–Colombia border, I can help build connections with researchers and regional institutions. I will share upcoming conference plans once confirmed.
