Computational biologist and zoologist bridging molecular ecology, comparative genomics, and environmental biomonitoring, with a growing focus on how anthropogenically transformed ("novel") ecosystems affect wildlife health and biodiversity. My work combines eDNA/metabarcoding-based monitoring, AI-assisted species identification, and ecotoxicological analysis (heavy metals exposure) to track biological responses to environmental change across aquatic, terrestrial, and tropical systems in the UK and the Peruvian Amazon.

1) Mercury pollution from gold mining and its effects on amphibians and their gut bacteria (Peruvian Amazon) - I have well established links and sites with partners in Peru for this type of research.
2) AI + DNA-based tools for arthropod biodiversity monitoring in commercial forests (Northern Ireland, with AgriFood Biosciences Institute)
3) Comparing sequencing platforms and reference databases for eDNA-based surveillance
4) Molecular ecology for unravelling dietary interactions in Amazonian amphibians
