My expertise lies at the intersection of spatial planning, biodiversity, ecosystem services (ES) and human–nature relationships. I have extensive experience in integrating ES, green infrastructure and nature-based solutions into spatial planning and management, with a particular focus on urban and peri-urban areas.

My research skills include the assessment and spatial analysis of ES, particularly cultural ES; evaluation of the accessibility, distribution and quality of green spaces; and analysis of the social and equity dimensions of biodiversity and ecosystem benefits. I also have experience with participatory and interdisciplinary approaches to spatial planning and with translating scientific knowledge into planning methods, strategies and decision-making. I use innovative methodologigal approaches, usually combining qualitative and quanititative methods.

I am a Lead Author in the IPBES Spatial Planning and Connectivity Assessment, contributing to the integration of biodiversity knowledge into spatial planning. I can contribute to projects through research design, spatial analysis, ES assessment, interdisciplinary synthesis, and the development of planning and governance approaches addressing biodiversity and socio-ecological change.

I am interested in joining projects that explore the links between biodiversity, ES and spatial planning, particularly in urban and peri-urban contexts. I would be keen to contribute spatial-planning expertise and ES assessment to interdisciplinary research addressing socio-ecological change, biodiversity benefits and trade-offs (especially with use of green spaces for leisure activities), and pathways towards more biodiversity-inclusive planning and governance. I am also interested in investigating views and preferences of people regarding the biodiversity-inclusive green spaces. As a Lead Author in the IPBES Spatial Planning and Connectivity Assessment, I am particularly interested in projects that can connect research findings with practical planning and decision-making, e.g. provide tools, indicators, measures, guidelines for biodiversity-inclusive spatial planning.
