Senior researcher (CIRAD) with 30+ years of experience in tropical/Amazonian biodiversity valorisation and appropriate agro-processing technologies (flash vacuum expansion, tangential microfiltration, vacuum frying) for rural agro-industries. Incoming researcher at UFPA/CVACBA (Belem, Brazil, from January 2027) and Scientific Coordinator of the TEAMAZ network (Rede Territorios Amazonicos), a transnational research platform spanning Brazil, French Guiana and the Colombian Amazon. Expertise in socio-economic value chain analysis, technology transfer and living-lab approaches (SAP-Labs concept) for equitable, nature-positive rural development, applied to palm fruit and cocoa bean value chains in territorial agro-industrial units.

The Amazon agricultural frontier (Para, Brazil / French Guiana / Colombian Amazon) is a paradigmatic case of novel socio-ecological ecosystems: traditional agroforestry systems, smallholder palm groves (acai, coconut) and post-deforestation mosaics that self-organise into new, non-reversible ecological and economic configurations. We propose to study the trajectories of these Amazonian novel ecosystems for the Biodiversa+ BiodivFuture call, focusing on (i) the socio-economic drivers and pathways shaping their emergence (Theme B), and (ii) the fair and equitable distribution of biodiversity-linked economic benefits among smallholders, indigenous and local communities engaged in agro-industrial valorisation of native biodiversity (Theme C). The consortium already includes Brazil (UFPA/CVACBA) and France via French Guiana (Universite de Guyane, UR COVAPAM), building on the TEAMAZ network. We are looking for a coordinating partner (or co-coordinator) in a well-funded participating country, with strong expertise in ecosystem functioning, trophic ecology and biodiversity/extinction-risk assessment in tropical or novel ecosystems (Theme A), to anchor the project's ecological core and help coordinate a transnational Biodiversa+ consortium.
