As a landscape ecologist, I investigate how landscape structure and land-use change influence biodiversity and ecosystem services across different spatial scales. My research combines landscape ecology, biodiversity science, spatial analysis, remote sensing, and quantitative ecological modelling to understand and predict how ecosystem functioning changes in human-modified landscapes. My research interests are theoretically grounded in landscape ecology, systems thinking, and hierarchy theory, focusing on how landscape heterogeneity, biodiversity dynamics, ecological functions, ecosystem services, and food production interact. From an applied perspective, I combine multi-scale biodiversity monitoring, advanced technologies, landscape metrics, and spatial modelling to quantify these relationships
Landscape ecology
I am interested in joining this project because it closely aligns with our current work on developing an AI-based UAV platform for biodiversity monitoring. I see strong potential for applying and further developing this approach within the proposed project, particularly for automated data collection, species or habitat detection, and large-scale biodiversity assessment. The project would provide an opportunity to test the transferability of our methodology in a new research context while contributing our expertise in UAV-based sensing and AI-driven analysis. I am also interested in the potential for this collaboration to improve the robustness, scalability, and broader applicability of the approach for biodiversity research.
