I am an aquatic community ecologist focusing on freshwater biodiversity, plankton and food-web ecology, and responses to global-change stressors. With my research group, we combine field surveys with laboratory and mesocosm experiments. We have expertise in biodiversity monitoring, experimental ecology, trait-based approaches, pond and shallow-lake ecology, and related data analysis, with particular experience in small water bodies, including temporary ponds. We also have outdoor mesocosm facilities enabling replicated experiments on biodiversity responses to environmental change.

We are interested in joining projects addressing the impacts of anthropogenic pressures on freshwater biodiversity and ecosystem functioning, particularly where ecological research is closely linked to conservation, restoration or management. We are especially interested in collaborations that combine experimental and field-based approaches and aim to translate ecological evidence into practical management or policy-relevant outcomes.
